Postcard Dilemma

This is for a project I worked on in Art 413 Advanced Lettering & Typography. I designed 4 postcards front and back. The challenging part about the project was that two languages needed to be incorporated into the design. My concern was how to begin designing the set of postcards and if the information should be an equal amount of both languages.

My solution was to evenly distribute both languages throughout the design. On the front of each postcard are capital letters V, O, T, E and a word that pertains to the importance of voting(Voice, Oversee, Teach, and Educate)in both languages. On the back is an important message why people should vote. Overall I am pleased with my work but am still deciding on new ways to improve the design.

I saw these postcards in real in our Art 492D class and liked them because of its simplicity, content, and hove they give a clear message to vote. Good job.

Alone I'm not sure, but as a set I love these because they remind me of Scrabble pieces.

The placement of the stars is very nice, and I like the colors you chose for them. I would explore the space taken up by the huge letterforms and find ways to better combine the lowercase letters with that shape. They don't all have to simply sit on the same baseline!

I think I would explore with colors. Maybe a different background could emphasize certain ideas differently? Other than that, yes, it's good.

I like these postcard sets. So far the idea is quite efficient. But, I have agree with Norik. Explore other colors besides red and blue. Try even eliminating the stars. I would even explore different typefaces as well. Overall thought your ideas is quite appealing. I'm only concern, as postcards, will these appeal to the majority and encourage them to vote. Think in those terms, good job though, thus far.
