What do you Prefer?

New Pepsi bottles
Pepsi is supposedly redesigning their logo and bottles. The first image is the original Pepsi and the third is the redesign. They are using the same overall style just a slight modification in positioning of shapes for the logo and a bit of a different design style for the bottle. The hues remain red, blue, and white but indifferent values and intensity. The typography is also a new approach to the redesign. Their theme is to be a Pepsi with a "smile." Although there are only slight modifications in the design it makes the entire image seem like a whole new and different product. I think it is a cool idea doing the Pepsi with a smile. The logo appears more visual interesting and engaging. What do you think?

Whoa. It's definitely different.

This new branding approach evokes the same slick feel as other "hip" products such as 5 Gum or Axe Spray. And while that's probably what they were going for, I'm personally not a fan.

I just don't get the same "refreshing" vibe as I did from the old brand. Maybe it's because the Pepsi Globe is so super-famous and recognizable that an extreme makeover like this doesn't make sense to me. The smiley "swish" I didn't see; initially, I thought it was a sword or the wing of a bird. :o

Ok, the first thing I think of is Old Spice...I love the font and the whole new "it's cool because it's not bold and capitalized" addition as well. I don't like the logo at all and don't understand the "smile" aspect.

I think Pepsi kinda did an overkill on this logo thing. I can see how they tried pulling in that trendy very modern concept, but the logo looks more like its coming out of a phone compay or sftware. I see no connection to soda whatsoever. What's killing it for me is probably the type treatnent. I'm not sure the vertical position and ultra modern typeface goes well with the cicle. It sort of looks disconnected.

Wow, I never thought that pepsi sales are doing so bad that they need to redesign their historic logo. That is like Coca Cola getting a new logo. I would definetly stick with the old design we have got comfortable with. This new one is just not that appealing to me

I think the new logo looks really cool... but it doesn't look like it has that "Drink me, I'm so delicously refreshing!" feel to it.

But that could just be me talking... I don't drink soda at all :(

I understand Pepsi's desire to "upgrade" their logo/trademark; it's a sign of the times so to speak. The typeface is a bit to stylized for my taste; maybe it would work better if the type was thicker.

I can defiantly agree with you all. I thought the concept of doing the pepsi with a smile is a cool idea but the company totally changed everything which is a negative in my book. Pepsi does not feel so refreshing with the new design.

I'm not a big fan of the new Pepsi makeover...I saw these at the store the other day and I didn't recognize it from far away, I thought it was a foreign drink. I still bought it. Mountain Dew and Gatorade are changing their identity as well.
