When I was doing research on Proposition 8 I came across this poster. It is so boring and traditional. The part I hate most is the fact it does not have a message. It simply states Vote No on Prop 8. This does nothing for me. The poster's message doesn't need to be complicated, but it does need to have something else to it. It's like why would anyone be convinced to vote no on 8 if their is no information why they should. There are so many other propositions and with a poster design like this I would forget about prop 8. Based on the poster it would just make me feel neutral.

I agree that a message or a headline makes a poster or an ad stronger; however, not in this case, but sometimes an image alone can be as powerful.
To me, that image feels less like a poster and more something that you'd find on a bumper sticker or refrigerator magnet -- something that doesn't necessarily require you to sit down and think. It's not persuasive, but I think it's somewhat of an effective icon that one could plaster all around town and get people to subconsciously think about.
It looks more like a button than a poster. I think its message could be easily strengthen by simply using a brighter red and darker black; it currently lacks contrast.
